Ama K. Abebrese (born 3 May 1980) is an award-winning British Ghanaian actress, television presenter and producer. She was born in Ghana and raised in West London in the United Kingdom. She won the 2011 Best Actress in a Leading Role at the AMAA Awards for her stellar performance in Sinking Sands. Her film credits includes the Netflix movie Beasts of No Nation directed by Cary Fukunaga and stars Idris Elba. She plays the mother to lead young actor Abraham Attah who plays Agu. Abebrese is listed among Africa’s Top 20 Actors and Actresses by FilmContacts.com. She was named among C Hub magazine’s 100 most influential ‘African Women Influencers’ of the era 2014/15.She was ranked the Number 1 Most Influential TV and Radio Host 2015 on the Ghana Social Media Rankings List. She has gone onto to act in and Co produce a film entitled The Burial of Kojo directed by Blitz The Ambassador. The movie has been picked up by Ava DuVernay of Hollywood and will air on Netflix on the 31st of March.
Q: Your favourite place for African cuisine? Ama K: Asanka Restaurant (Bus Stop) in Accra.
Q: The best city in the world…? Ama K: So hard but a tie with Accra and London. Maybe I’m biased, but both really have a special place on my heart and have been instrumental in many of my life experiences. London is diverse, vibrant and has one of the best public transport I’ve seen. Accra is so welcoming and and very friendly and I love the development I see day in day out.

Q: Your best destination for dessert? Ama K: Pinkberry. Anytime I’m anyway and I see one, I have to stop for their frozen yoghurt.
Q: Your favourite designer? Ama K: Hard one, because there are so many great ones I love. For today, I will say Charlotte Prive (Ghanaian Ready to Wear brand). Very stylish and elegant and they have quality clothes.
Q: On your list to buy shoe wise? Ama K: Mosaique shoes.
Q: Where to go for the best Jollof? Ama K: Ermm…. my house. Or any Ghanaian Jollof. (Lol)
Q: The best wellness retreat for unwinding….? Ama K: Niobe
Q: The most luxurious destination in Ghana? Ama K: White Sands in Gomoa Fetteh.
Q: Where you go when you want to get away from it all? Ama K: My bed. Sleep.
